Our Day

We're all still hanging on to this sickness, ugh!  So instead of being out and about, we are trapped indoors.  Today I played with our new camera a bit.  There have been a lack of cute bunny pictures lately on the ol' blog so Simon was my model for a few of these.  However, he is way too fast to be a good model.  I took a gazillion pictures of the bun but in most of them he is just a grey blur.  Here's our house bound day so far...

Extreme close up of the bun himself.
Don't you just love his outrageous hair style!

Ava and I practiced our silly faces.
She practiced with fruit snacks in her mouth.
I practiced without the fruit snacks.

Cole worked on his "Up, up and away" Superman pose.

Ava got out all the toys she could find...
the house still looks like this.

Simon spent the morning stealing all of Ava's toys that
he could carry.  His favorites are these wooden cookies.

Finally, naps.
Thank God for nap time!  Both kiddos are asleep at the
same time, and I might actually get a shower in.  Hallelujah!!

My Tuesday Morning

Don't let that cute twitchy nose or the velvety soft ears fool you.  When it comes time to trim his nails, Simon is a nervous Nelly who will try to bite me (which he never does any other time).  I have to wrap him in a towel and let him nervously chew his little heart out while I attempt to trim his front nails.  I can't even do his back nails by myself.  I get to share that experience with Steve when he gets home tonight.  I know he'll be thrilled to find that out.  I love you honey and so does Simon even if he can't tell you ;o)

Home Again and Tech Problems

We were in Savannah all last week and I have tons to share.  However when I let our darling furball Simon out of his cage yesterday, he promptly went to my computer and bit through the keyboard wire in one quick chomp.  I think that was his way of saying don't leave me that long again.  Since then I can not get a single keyboard to work and therefore my computer will not start up at all.  I'm working on it and hope to be back tomorrow with lots of pictures from beautiful Georgia.

The picture above is Ava helping me pack before we left.  I told her she needed to play by herself for a while so I could pack.  I put the suitcase on the couch walked into the bedroom only to hear, "Mommy, I packing too!"  This was her version of packing.

The New Captain Kangaroo??

Our dear Simon, the lionhead, is constantly reinventing his look.  You know  like Madonna or Lady Gaga.  When we first brought him home, he had this cute little mohawk right between his ears.  He then started to get his lion mane around his head.  His latest and by far my favorite look so far is his far out 70's inspired porkchop side burns.  My  mom saw him and said he looked like Captain Kangaroo.  I couldn't get a good shot of them with his ears standing up but trust me it's hilarious.

On a different note, since summer is in full swing my posts will be fewer.  We've been so busy and blogging has fallen down a little on the list.  I do have a quick and easy father's day project coming to share this week though so stayed tuned for that.  Also, I made a few design changes to the blog so if you're in google reader or blogger click on over and let me know what you think.

The Bun

Simon has developed quite the little personality these days.  He loves to run through the house at full speed while Ava laughs hysterically.  He likes chewing on things, mainly pillows.  Ugh!  After he has run himself ragged, he finds the closest air vent and flops over on it.  He usually lays on the vent in Ava's room after he has drug out all of her little people.  He makes just as big of a mess with toys as Ava does.

Some of Ava's favorite things to tell Simon are...
"Get down, Bunny!"
"No, no, Bunny!!"
"Bunny fast!"

Apparently I scold Simon a lot because those are the phrases Ava has picked up on.  I just keep telling myself he is still a youngster and he will calm down.  I think I was just so used to Sweet Pea who would go back in her cage when you told her too and didn't want to chew on everything in sight.  Even with all the bun antics in our house, we love him dearly.

Have a great weekend all and remember those who have served our country.
 God Bless You All!

Post Nap Rituals

Our daily post nap rituals include Simon trying to jump over my clever pillow barricade, apples for everyone, and running and hiding from each other with squeals of laughter from Ava.  I think if rabbits could laugh, we would hear Simon giggling right along with Ava.  She loves her furry little buddy so much!

Meet Simon

Here's the newest addition to our family, Simon.  We adopted him on Saturday from the local Humane Society.  Boy is he a cutie!

Last Friday, Steve surprised me for my birthday saying we would get another rabbit.  I had been dropping hints since Sweet Pea died but Steve did not seem interested.  Little did I know he had been doing research to find out more about a certain breed I had mentioned.  I had seen a few pictures of Lionhead Rabbits and thought they were adorable, so that's what Steve went looking for.  He talked to breeders and found out all about them.  I was thrilled.  I also couldn't wait to find one.  I'm very impatient that way.  I got online and saw that some were being adopted out on Saturday at a local Petsmart.  Needless to say we were there the next day.  Unfortunately, they did not have any but mentioned that the Humane Society got in a litter of Lionheads not long ago.  Off we went to check out the bunnies.  We had a tough decision because all three of the little guys were adorable.  Something about Simon was unique and different...other than his rad hair.  He was super sweet and outgoing.  Perfect for Miss Ava.  We couldn't pick him up until Thursday because he had to have his little boy parts fixed.  He was worth the wait though!

We've had him for a little over a day now and he and Ava are the best of friends.  Ava keeps trying to give him books and other random toys.  Simon is going with it quite well.  Having a pet makes our house feel more homey.  Thanks for the awesome birthday present, hon!  I'm super glad we were able to adopt, too.
